Answer

While statistics paint a nuanced picture about crime and safety, across the electorate I constantly hear deep concerns about personal safety in homes, businesses, and on the streets.

Everybody has the right to feel safe, and helping make the residents of Albert Park electorate feel safe and secure as they go about their lives is my absolute number one priority.

The City of Port Phillip’s recent Community Safety Plan has grown out of impressive work by different agencies within levels of government and the wider community coming together to develop effective and coordinated community safety strategies. If elected, I will fight to ensure the State Government continues to work with its local and non-government partners, and fully meets its own funding responsibilities for community safety.

  • This includes more police resources and Protective Service Officers.
  • It also means a stronger focus on and resourcing for crime prevention, education, welfare, justice access, and rehabilitation services.
  • Hooning and vehicle noise remain a blight on several parts of the Albert Park electorate. I’ll fight to put an end to the Government dragging its heels to tackle this issue.
